Spiritual AccompanimentThe ministry of spiritual direction, otherwise known as spiritual guidance or accompaniment, is deeply rooted in the Christian tradition - finding its place in the practice of the early Church and in the Celtic tradition of 'anam cara'. It is essentially a one-to-one relationship offering support and gentle guidance on the spiritual journey. The role of the director is to listen attentively to the voice of the Spirit speaking through the other person. It is essentially a prayer experience of two people, open and receptive to the movement of God within their hearts. The two become soul-friends for the duration of time that they walk together.
