About Tabor
The Discalced Carmelites came to Preston in 1985 and took responsibility for St Ignatius’ Parish. In 2001 the community moved to Shire Bank Farm, a former dairy farm with stables, cobbled courtyard, barns, an old farmhouse and gardens on Sharoe Green Lane.
The conversion of the old farm into a modern, simple, homely retreat house, reflecting the gentle Carmelite spirit of welcome, was completed in 2001. It opened to the public on Sunday 24 September, the feast day of Our Lady of Ransom.
More about the work of Tabor can be found here.
Tabor is a creatively designed retreat house which retains many of the features of the original 19th century farmhouse from which it was converted.
